Bhubaneswar: The BJP on Monday boycotted the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro ahead of the winter session of the Odisha Assembly, beginning December 1.
Deputy Leader of Opposition Bishnu Sethi walked out of the meeting, alleging that the party is not being given the respect of the main opposition.
He told mediapersons that the Speaker reneged on his assurance to allow three BJP leaders to attend the meeting in the absence of Leader of Opposition Pradipta Naik, who has been keeping unwell.
“As suggested by the Speaker during the last meeting, the party office had written a letter about five days ago, seeking permission to allow Opposition chief whip Mohan Majhi and Sambalpur MLA Jaya Narayan Mishra to attend the meeting. But Speaker later refused to accept it and sought another letter from the legislators of the party,” he said.
