Balangir: In a unique protest, senior BJP leader KV Singhdeo along with his supporters stood under rain for hours together to oppose frequent powercuts in Odisha’s Balangir district.
Singhdeo, who is a former MLA of Patnagarh constituency in the district, went to the office of TPWODL in the town and stood as a mark of protest amid rain. Accompanied by his followers, he continued to stand silently amid heavy downpour without raising any slogan or making any disturbances.
Speaking to media persons at the agitation spot, Singhdeo said power outages during rainy season is baffling. “One can understand disruption in pick of summer though it causes hardship to the people. But why should there be powercut in rainy season? It reflects incompetence or negligence on part of the company,” he said.
Singhdeo and the BJP workers withdrew their agitation after the TPWODL authorities assured them of uninterrupted power supply in the district.
