Bhubaneswar: Even as the ruling BJD celebrated its 25th foundation day and rejoiced at the development brought in under the leadership of party president and chief minister Naveen Patnaik, opposition BJP took a dig at it pointing out the suffering of the people under BJD’s misrule.
On the BJD’s claim that the party will remain committed to its path of ensuring development and welfare of the people in future, BJP MP Basant Panda said Odisha has been utterly neglected under BJD rule for over 22 years. For BJD, party interest has always remained above the state’s interest, he added.
Claiming that the farmers continue to remain neglected by the BJD, he said the state government is yet to put a flawless system to ensure minimum support price for paddy to them. Rather, the farming community is yet to get respite from exploitation of the rice millers.
Pointing out collapse of law and order in the state, the BJP leader said crimes against women have been steadily increasing as is evident from the recent murder case of school teacher Mamita Meher in Kalahandi district.
While the family of Mamita is yet to get justice, the chief minister continues to give protection to Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra who had close link with the prime accused in the case, Govind Sahu, the MP said.
