Bhubaneswar: Mounting a scathing attack on Odisha’s BJD government over the death of Gobinda Sahu, prime accused in Mamita Meher murder case, BJP on Wednesday alleged that it was a pre-planned murder as part of a conspiracy to eliminate witnesses.
Addressing a press meet in Bhubaneswar, BJP’s Odisha unit general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan alleged that Sahu’s death is not a suicide but a pre-planned murder to protect a ruling BJD leader.
Claiming that the body of Mamita was hidden to suppress the evidence in the murder case, he alleged that the BJD government is on a drive to eliminate witnesses to protect tainted leaders, including Ministers.
Stating that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has a moral responsibility to maintain law and order in the state, the senior BJP leader alleged that the role of the then Minister of State for Home in Mamita murder case was under suspicion and the CM knew that.
Taking a dig at the Chief Minister, Harichandan alleged that the then Minister was protected as the CM failed to discharge his moral duties and responsibility.
The senior BJP leader further claimed that Sahu’s family members have reportedly stated that two ministers had assured them that the prime accused in Mamita murder case will be released from jail.
Referring to Mahanga double murder case and Gop Zilla Parishad member Dharmendra Sahoo death case, the witnessed were eliminated in a planned way to shield leaders.
Sahu, who was managing committee president of Sunshine School where Mamita worked, allegedly died by suicide on Tuesday at Kantabanji jail before his appearance in a local court.
