Bhubaneswar: With elections fast approaching, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to bring 108-point ‘chargesheet’ against the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government in Odisha with allegations of its failure in all spheres and rampant corruption in the state.

The chargesheet will also highlight the whirlwind tours of different parts of the state being undertaken by 5T Secretary V K Pandian, according to BJP stalwart and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the state Assembly, Jayanarayan Mishra.

The chargesheet, which is under preparation, seeks to corner the Naveen Patnaik government ahead of the Lok Sabha and state Assembly elections due next year.

Alleging that the state has been hit by large scale corruption in all spheres, the firebrand BJP leader said the saffron party will tell people about the failure of the BJD government in all spheres during the last 23 years.

The document will also highlight the BJD government’s reluctance to open the Ratna Bhandar of Shree Jagannath Temple in the pilgrim town of Puri despite demands from different quarters to do complete inventory of the treasury of the 12th century shrine by opening its inner chamber, he said.

Claiming that largescale irregularities were taking place in the mining sector including coal mining, the BJP leader alleged that all the 30 districts of the state have been witnessing rampant corruption.

All these will be listed in the chargesheet to be circulated in panchayats, blocks and districts to expose BJD’s misrule.

Dismissing the BJP allegation, senior BJD leader and former Minister Debi Prasad Mishra reportedly said that opposition parties are in the habit of making false charges before elections. People of the state are with BJD which is set to form the government again, he claimed.

Another BJD leader and former Minister Rohit Pujari took a swipe at Jayanarayan Mishra over his statement about BJP chargesheet against Odisha government. Mishra seems to be speaking about chargesheets that are being filed in criminal cases involving him, he said, adding that the BJP leader is involved in several criminal cases.
