Bhubaneswar: BJP national president Amit Shah said his party will form the next government in Odisha with a two-thirds majority in the 2019 assembly elections. “Since I work at the booth level, I know the grassroots’ situation,” he asserted while addressing a meeting at Hugulapata village in Ganjam district on Tuesday.
Saha, who is on a three-day visit to Odisha for ‘Mo Booth Sabuthu Majboot’ (My Booth is the Strongest) programme, said the BJP has set a target to form booth committees and strengthen all 36,000 election booths of Odisha in the coming days.
The BJP chief lashed out at the BJD government for its alleged failure to provide electricity, safe drinking water and employment to people of the state. “Odisha is lagging behind other states in terms of development despite having abundant natural resources. People have already witnessed the failure of Naveen Patnaik-led government on all fronts,” he said.
The state has received more funds from the Narendra Modi-led central government in the last three years, compared with the past 25 years, he added.
Later, Shah, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo and state BJP unit president Basanta Panda held a meeting with the booth level workers in the same village.
As part of the BJP’s Dalit outreach programme, Shah and senior leaders of the party also had lunch with an OBC family. He would also address booth workers’ conference in Berhampur.
The BJP chief is scheduled to visit Jajpur district on Wednesday and attend a booth-level workers’ conference.
