New Delhi: A BJP worker’s lifeless body was found inside a playschool in the Capital’s Narela area.

Identified as Varsha Pawar, the 32-year-old resident of Swatantra Nagar had been missing since February 24, police said.

According to a missing person’s complaint lodged by her father Vijay Kumar, Varsha left home on February 23 on her scooty and was last seen with her business partner, Sohan Lal.

When her father called Varsha on February 24, an unknown person received the call, claiming to be in Harshana, Sonipat, near a railway track, where a man was attempting to die by suicide.

The person video-called Vijay Kumar, who identified the man attempting to die by suicide as Sohan. Kumar then went to Harshana, but couldn’t find Sohan, as per the complaint.

A police team searched the playschool but didn’t find anything.

Police tracked Sohan’s mobile phone to trace his last location in Haryana’s Barauta, but neither Sohan nor Varsha was found.

With police not being able to trace his daughter for four days, a worried and desperate Kumar went to the playschool on February 28 and requested the landlord to open the shutter. He discovered Varsha’s body behind the main desk, following which he informed the police.

Police said that prima facie it appears that Varsha was strangled as a dupatta was wrapped around her neck.

Police also checked Sohan’s whereabouts with GRP Sonipat and learnt that an unidentified body was found on the railway tracks on February 25. The body is suspected to be of Sohan.

Police suspect that Sohan killed Varsha before committing suicide.

Further investigation is underway with as case having been lodged under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
