Bhubaneswar: Block grant teachers on Thursday launched an indefinite strike at Mahatma Gandhi Marg here seeking fulfillment of their longstanding demands.
“All Odisha School-College Teachers and Employees’ United Forum, in its steering committee meeting, had passed a resolution to put its month-long strike on hold following assurance from the state government to consider its demands on April 19. But we were forced to hit the streets again as the government has failed to pay heed towards our legitimate demands,” said the forum convenor, Prakash Mohanty.
This time, more than one lakh teachers and lecturers of different educational institutions will participate in the indefinite strike to put pressure on the government to fulfill our demands at the earliest, Mohanty added.
