BMC Revises Restrictions On Weddings & Funerals In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has revised the slab on number of people allowed at weddings, funerals and thread ceremonies in the capital city from November 1.

The BMC issued a fresh order on Saturday relating to gatherings and number of guests at weddings, funerals and thread ceremonies for the month of November keeping in view the improvement in COVID situation. The civic body withdrew the previous order issued on October 4 and revised order on October 5 that capped the number of guests in functions related to marriage, death ritual, thread ceremony limit to 50.

The BMC has, however, stated that the Government regulations issued on August 31 regarding gathering in social functions like marriage/death rituals/thread ceremony will be applicable in BMC jurisdiction henceforth.

The government had allowed a maximum of 250 guests on August 31 this year and this will now be allowed in the social events within the BMC limits from November 1.

It may be mentioned that Khurda district had reported 157 new COVID cases, out of which 142 were from Bhubaneswar. The number of active cases in the state capital stands at 3,015.
