During a visit to Unit I daily market in Odisha capital on Monday, BMC Commissioner Vijay Amruta Kulange  along with other officials inspected the sanitation measures and health practices followed by the shop-keepers. Several shops, which were found violating the BMC guidelines, were imposed penalty by the team

The Commissioner said in order to ensure cleanliness in commercial areas, the BMC will impose a penalty of Rs 5,000 on the vendors who would be found dumping rotten vegetables and other wastes on road. Similarly, a fine of Rs 500 would be collected for non-disposal of wet and dry garbage separately.

Seeking cooperation of the people in this regard, he said, “We expect everyone to contribute towards keeping Bhubaneswar clean and green.”
