Bhadrak: A boat returning to the shore with fishermen on board after cyclone alert capsized at Baitarani river mouth near Dhamra port in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Tuesday.
All the ten fishermen travelling in the boat are stated to be safe as they were rescued by ODRAF and Marine Police personnel, sources said.
As per information, ten fishermen of Digha area had ventured into the sea for fishing. They were returning after getting information about impending cyclone ‘Dana’ when the boat carrying them capsized close to the shore.
On being informed, ODRAF and Marine Police personnel rushed to the site and rescued all the fishermen with the help of locals. All the fishermen are stated to be safe.
However, the rescue team is yet to bring back the boat due to strong water current and high tidal waves.
With severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ set to hit the Odisha coast by October 25, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, whole those already out in the sea asked to return immediately.
