Balasore: The bodies of two kanwariyas, who had gone missing after being swept away in Salandi river in Odisha’s Balasore district, were recovered on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Subrat Mahakud and Rajesh Sahu of Barajayapur village under Khaira block of the district.
The two had been swept away on Monday while taking a dip in the river in Barada area along with other kanwariyas on their way to a Shiva temple to pour holy water on the occasion of Sravan month Monday.
Following the incident, personnel of the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) had launched a search operation to trace and rescue them. The bodies of the two devotees were recovered from the river today, sources said.
