Cuttack: Following the green light from the Odisha government, the SCB Medical College and Hospital authorities here have begun the process of opening a bone bank.
According to sources, the SCB authorities will apply to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) for registration this month.
The bone bank in the Department of Orthopaedics will help doctors replace the damaged bone of patients with a new one.
The department conducts around 12 surgeries every day.
NOTTO is a national level organization set up under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and located on the premises of the Institute of Pathology (ICMR) Building in Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.
