Nabarangpur: An FIR has been registered against Nabarangpur RTO Ganeswar Kanhar for allegedly demanding Rs 40,000 to regularise the job of a contractual data entry operator.
The incident came to light on Saturday after a video of the data entry operator, Laxinath Harijan, demanding his money back from the RTO went viral on social media.
Harijan had also lodged written complaints with Nabarangpur ADM NC Sutar and the local police on basis of which an FIR was registered under various sections of the CrPC and the investigation handed over to a DSP-level official, sources said.
According to the complainant, he had joined the RTO office as a contractual data operator in 2017 with a remuneration of Rs 11,900 a month. He, however, was not paid the salary since last 16 months. All his requests to the RTO to release his salary too went in vain.
In November last year, the RTO allegedly asked him to pay Rs 40,000 to release his pending salary. He also promised him to regularise his job. Accordingly, he deposited the amount in the bank account of the RTO. However, he neither got his salary nor was his job regularised. When he demanded the money back, the RTO refused,.
The data entry operator further alleged that the RTO had threatened him to remain silent on the matter through some persons.
