Raipur: Brigadier Vignesh Mahanti took charges as Commander of Chhattisgarh and Odisha Sub-Area (COSA) at Naya Raipur on Monday.
He succeeded Brigadier Prashant Chauhan.
Brigadier Vignesh Mahanti has over three decades of experience in numerous important operational and administrative posts, both in India and abroad.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (Khadakwasla), he commanded an Engineer Regiment in the Kashmir Valley and a Mountain Brigade in the Eastern Theatre. He was also part of the Indian Military Training Team in Bhutan.
An engineering graduate, he holds a post-graduate degree in Defence & Strategic Studies from Chennai University and Masters in National Security Administration from the Philippines.
