Balasore: In a major haul, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch seized brown sugar worth Rs 2 crore from Basta area in Balasore district on Thursday.
Director-General of Police (DGP) Abhay said that acting on a tip-off, the STF team raided the area and seized 2.12 kg of brown sugar and arrested a person.
The investigation is in the preliminary stage, he added.
Referring to the STF’s success in a spurious drugs case in the state, the DGP said that the team has arrested four persons and frozen their accounts amounting to about Rs 50 lakh.
“The STF arrested three persons of Medilloyd Medicament Private Limited from Mumbai yesterday and the managing director of the company today. They will be forwarded to the court later in the day,” he added.
