Cuttack: The flying squad of excise department seized brown sugar weighing 80 grams from two peddlers at Machhua Bazaar in Cuttack on Monday.
Based on a tip-off, the excise sleuths laid a trap at Machhua Bazaar and recovered the brown sugar along with 5 kg ganja from Dillip Kahali and Manoj Kahali.
The value of the seized brown sugar has been estimated to be around Rs 8 lakh. The arrested persons used to procure the contraband from unidentified persons and sell it at different places of the district, an official informed.
Efforts are on to trace other people involved with the duo in the brown sugar and ganja trade, the official said.
