Malkangiri: Border Security Force (BSF) personnel have unearthed a huge cache of Maoist materials, including explosives and gun-manufacturing equipment, from Alurkota village under Kalimela police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.
The materials were stored in a plastic drum and buried under the ground near Sileru river. The jawans of the 142 battalion BSF detected the Maoist dump while conducting a combing operation in Bhejangwada forest in Kalimela area.
As per sources, the ultras had hidden gelatine sticks, hand grenades, and a lathe machine used for manufacturing guns, to target security forces. However, the bid was foiled by the BSF jawans.
It may be noted here that the jawans of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) also unearthed a dump of Maoist materials including arms and explosives from a forest in Machkund area of Koraput district.
