Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday said that the state government’s flagship health scheme Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) has emerged as a solace for millions.
People are now able to receive high quality treatment at reputed private hospitals because of BSKY, the Chief Minister said.
“Considering the rising cost of healthcare, my government has taken a firm stand to “not let anyone go untreated for lack of money,” he said inaugurating the Convention Centre of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) at Cuttack.
Besides, to make up for the shortfall of doctors, the government is on a mission to open medical colleges in all parts of our state. “Today we have 10 government medical colleges in the state and several others are in the pipeline,” he said.
“I congratulate all of you on this happy occasion. I am told that it is one of the biggest conference halls in our state with a sitting capacity of more than 2500. I hope the new facility will provide opportunity to the members to bolster their academic knowledge through various knowledge sharing event,” the CM said.
The Odisha state branch of IMA has been playing an instrumental role in contributing towards better healthcare delivery in our state since its formation. Their role in collaborating with the state government in implementation of various health programs is appreciated, he said.
“As we all know Health issues since time immemorial have been creating immense mental and economic distress among people. People see doctors as their saviour of life. Therefore, medical profession is considered one of the noblest professions in society,” Naveen added.
