Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offence Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested a builder for allegedly duping its customers of Rs 4 crore.

According to sources, MX Infra Ltd had floated a housing project named MX Infra New Citizen Housing project at Uttermundamuhana under Jatni police limits. As many as 13 persons had evinced interest in purchasing apartments in the project.

They had deposited Rs 55 lakh for each duplex apartment a few years back. Managing director of the company Maheswar Sahu had assured them of handing over the apartments in 2017.

The sources said Sahu had also signed agreements with the buyers for project. But he neither he constructed the complex nor returned the amount to the people despite repeated requests.

With no option left, the duped buyers had approached the EOW to get back their money.
