Dehradun: The Haryana Roadways bus driver and conductor who helped rescue Rishabh Pant from the horrific car accident site on Friday morning will be rewarded.
Pant’s Mercedes hit a divider on the Delhi-Dehradun highway early in the morning and caught fire. A Haryana Roadways bus coming from the opposite direction stopped at the site. The driver and his assistant, along with some local people, helped the Team India cricketer come out of the mangled SUV.
Uttarakhand Police have decided to reward the two men — Sushil Kumar and Paramjeet Nain — under the Good Samaritan scheme, Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Kumar said on Saturday.
Sushil called the emergency helpline number 112 to inform police about the accident and also called an ambulance so that Pant could be shifted to a hospital without any delay.
The Haryana government will also honour the duo.
“Bus driver Sushil Kumar and conductor Paramjeet spotted an uncontrolled car ram over the divider near Gurukul Narsan. They ran towards the car to help the passenger. We have honoured them… The (Haryana) state government will also honour them for their work for humanity,” said Panipat Bus Depot general manager K Jangra.
