Balasore: Around 70 passengers of a tourist bus had a close shave as the driver managed to stop the vehicle immediately after suffering a heart attack that led to his death in Odisha’s Balasore district on Tuesday.
The incident was reported from Patapur Chhak under the jurisdiction of Nilagiri police station in the district in the morning.
As per preliminary information, the bus carrying tourists from West Bengal was proceeding towards Panchalingeswar Temple in the district when the driver suffered a heart attack.
Following sudden pain in his chest, the driver stopped the bus on the side of the road before falling unconscious. The passengers called the locals and rushed him to Nilagiri sub-divisional hospital where he was declared dead by the doctor.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Akhtar of Howrah area.
The passengers as well as locals lauded the presence of mind of the driver, who saved the life of the passengers by taking immediate step and stopping the bus to ensure the safety of those on board.
