Dhenkanal: Unidentified miscreants allegedly looted Rs 90,000 from employees of a private bus service in Odisha’s Dhenkanal after spiking their soft drinks.
Bus owner Deepak Kumar Das has filed a complaint in this regards at Bhuban police station.
According to sources, the miscreants booked the bus to ferry labourers between Bhuban and Jajpur, and paid the bus employees Rs 1,500 as advance. They then offered the driver, conductor and helper of the bus spiked soft drink and fled with Rs 90,000 when they fell unconscious.
Locals found the bus parked near Nilamadhav petrol pump on Bhuban College Road and the employees in a critical state. They were rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Bhuban.
“We were filling petrol when they approached us and said they needed the bus to take some labourers to Jajpur and also gave us Rs 1,500 as advance. They then ordered soft drinks and asked me to get some cigarettes. They must have spiked the cold drinks when I went to buy the cigarettes,” a bus staff told media.
Businessman Bimbhadhar Tripathy of Bhuban had reportedly given to money to the bus staff to deliver it to a mobile dealer at Jajpur.
“I got a call from an acquaintance and immediately rushed to the spot,” said bus owner Deepak Kumar Das, adding that he was not aware that the staff had Rs 90,000 with them.
