Bhubaneswar: A cab driver affiliated to an online taxi aggregator was allegedly abducted by unidentified miscreants from Patrapada area in Bhubaneswar.
As per preliminary reports, the kidnappers demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom after abducting the driver, identified as Sankarshan Das. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday night.
Some miscreants reportedly kidnapped the cab driver in a car from outside his house at Krishna Vihar area in Patrapada.
Following the incident, the kidnappers have reportedly demanded Rs 10 lakh ransom money from the victim’s wife to release him. They even allegedly beat Das over a video call with his wife to confirm that they had actually kidnapped him.
The victim’s wife claimed to have paid Rs 2 lakh to the kidnappers through internet banking facility after they threatened to kill him.
After a complaint was lodged at Khandagiri police station, a probe has been launched into the incident and efforts are on to track the accused.
