Bhubaneswar/Puri: The Odisha government is contemplating camping facility to boost tourism flow to Sun Temple at Konark.
The idea is to retain the tourists coming to Konark and its periphery for at least two to three days.
According to sources, 50 acres of land has been earmarked for setting up around 50 tents for overnight stay during which tourists can explore the other hotspots in Konark and the adjoining areas.
Water sports, adventure sports and cultural programmes will be organised for the visiting tourists.
It will be implemented on a pilot basis for a month during this winter season. The duration will be extended if the demand increases, the sources added.
“We want tourists to come prepared for spending at least two to three days at Konark,” Tourism Secretary Vishal Dev said.
A meeting in this regard was held at Lokaseva Bhavan under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy, the sources added.
Notably, there are not adequate number of luxury hotels in and around the world heritage site.
