New Delhi: In a terrible tragedy, a 29-year-old man died after slipping on a waterlogged road and getting swept into a drain in Narela area on Saturday.
According to police, with heavy rain causing waterlogging in the area, the man got stuck in the drain and drowned.
Police personnel and a Delhi Fire Services team had to use a crane to pull the body of the victim – identified as Salesh Mehto — out from the drain. He worked as contractual labourer at the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIDC).
“We received information around 11 am about a man drowning near the DSIIDC office in Narela. Our teams went to the spot and found that the area was filled with 2-3 feet deep water. Initially, the man couldn’t be traced. We had to bring in a crane to pull his body from a sewer line,” informed a police officer.
