Kendrapada: Pattmundai police in Kendrapada district on Wednesday arrested three persons who they were trying to carjack a taxi.
According to sources, a private taxi from Bhubaneswar was on way to Pattamundai in the afternoon when it was stopped by four youths near Salepur Chhak. As soon as the driver stopped the vehicle, the youths held him at gunpoint and asked him to come out. They tied him up with a rope and dumped him in the dickey of the taxi.
As the youths drove away, the dickey suddenly opened in the market area in Pattamundai and the driver fell on the road. As the youths tried to put him back in the dickey, they were overpowered by locals people who informed the police.
Pattamundai cops rushed to the spot and arrested three youths. The fourth person managed to escape.
Interrogation of the three arrested youths is underway at the police station.
