Bhubaneswar: Vigilance sleuths on Friday arrested CDPO, Bhubaneswar Rural, Kabita Chhotray and Assistance Fire Officer, Bargarh, Prafulla Kumar Biswal on graft charges.
Chhotray was allegedly caught accepting Rs 50,000 bribe from a member of a Self Help Group (SHG) for passing bills amounting to over Rs 5 lakh.
According to vigilance sources, she had demanded Rs 50,000 from Banabasini Mallik of Jayapur village under Dhauli police limits for passing Chhatua bills of Rs 5,60,706.
Mallik filed a complaint with SP (Vigilance), Bhubaneswar, following which a trap was laid to apprehend her red-handed. She was arrested and forwarded to court, the sources added.
On the other hand, Biswal had allegedly sought illegal gratification of Rs 28,000 from Dillip Kumar Sethi for submission of site inspection report along with NOC in order to set up a LPG godown at Ghasian in Balangir district.
