Bhubaneswar: The Centre on Tuesday assured the Odisha government of all assistance in restoration works in the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan.
The assurance came during a videoconferencing by the Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba with Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy and other senior government officials.
On his part, Tripathy informed Gauba that the evacuation of people from vulnerable areas in 12 coastal districts will be completed by Tuesday evening.
He also said that the necessary manpower and equipment were moved to these districts for immediate restoration of road connectivity, power supply and resumption of drinking water supply after the cyclone passes the state coast.
Additional chief secretary and Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Pradeep Jena said that in addition to the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) and local administrations, the state government is using local-based alert system (LBAS) and self broadcasting to extend its outreach to the people for management activities.
