Bhubaneswar: The Police have filed a chargesheet before a court in Odisha capital against honey-trap kingpin Archana Nag, who was arrested in October on a complaint filed by filmmaker Akshay Parija accusing her of blackmailing him and demanding Rs 3 crore.
According to reports, the 501-page chargesheet was submitted before the court of JMFC 3 against Archana under Sections 384, 385, 388, 389, 500, 506 and 120-B of the IPC and Sections 66E, 67 and 67A of the I-T Act, said a senior police official.
The Commissionerate Police has made a plea before the court for keeping the investigation open for collection of more evidences in the blackmailing racket case, they said.
A supplementary chargesheet is likely to be submitted by the Commissionerate Police after completion of the investigation.
It may be noted here that Parija had lodged a complaint with the Nayapalli police alleging that Archana and her husband Jagabandhu Chand demanded Rs 3 crore from him by blackmailing him a video of intimate moments with a woman.
While Archana was arrested by the Commissionerate Police on October 6, Jagabandhu was picked up on October 21. The two, lodged in Jharapada jail in Bhubaneswar, were also subsequently arrested by the Enforcement Directorate, which is investing the financial transactions in the racket. The central agency also interrogated them.
The couple is accused of amassing over Rs 30 crore in span of four years by blackmailing high-profile people, including politicians, businessmen and filmmakers using sexually explicit videos. The ED has so far traced Rs 2.5 crore deposited in the accounts of Archana and Jagabandhu between 2017 and 2022.
