Bhubaneswar: For the benefits of tourists and travellers, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 34 wayside amenity centres in difference parts of Odisha through a video conferencing at the State Secretariat here on Tuesday.
“The centres have toilets, safe drinking water, parking and cafeteria facilities. These will cater to needs of our tourists and, especially women, during the journey,” said the Chief Minister.
There will be more additions to the centres in future, he added.
The CM directly inaugurated five centres through video conferencing, whereas, other centres were inaugurated by Ministers, local MPs and MLAs.
He further said these centres will be helpful for tourists, women and differently-abled persons. Such centres will be opened at all tourist places and important places of the state, he added.
The Works Department has been assigned the task to take care of the centres.
The centres, which were inaugurated by the CM, are located at Jatamundei Chhak in Cuttack, Duburi-Kalinganagar in Jajpur, Odagaon in Nayagarh, Dhama in Sambalpur and Kapilash in Dhenkanal.
Notably, of 50 centres in the state, 34 have already been finished.
