Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court on Friday granted conditional bail to chief managing director (CMD) of Seashore Group of Companies Prashant Dash in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scam in Odisha.
Dash was asked to provide two surety for bail bond (zamindars), submit his passport and take permission of the investigating officer while going outside the state.
The Supreme Court had earlier granted bail to his elder brother in the same case.
Dash was arrested by the state Crime Branch from Mumbai on June 20, 2013, in connection with the scam. The case was late handed over to the CBI following the Supreme Court’s order. He had been lodged in Jharpada Special Jail here since then.
The CBI had filed a 276-page chargesheet naming Dash, his brother Pravat Dash and middleman Subhankar Nayak accusing them of duping depositors of Rs 578.20 crore.
