Bhubaneswar: The ongoing ‘Silk India 2017’ here is drawing people in hordes. Pure and probable silk sarees and dress materials along with jewellery are up for grabs at the exhibition, which is on till August 20.
With the festive season round the corner, the rush is palpable. “We are expecting more visitors in days ahead,” said a stall owner from Kolkata.
The exhibition at Hotel New Marrion here is being organised by The Hastashilpi and has 60 stalls by weavers, handloom clusters and silk cooperative societies. It was inaugurated by cine and television artiste Lipsa Mishra on August 11.
Organic Tassar from Bihar, Kannjeevaram from Tamil Nadu, Mulberi from Uttar Pradesh, Patiala dress materials from Punjab, Kosa and Raw silk from Chhattisgarh, Maheswari from Madhya Pradesh, Kota silk from Rajasthan, Kantha stitch from West Bengal and other georgette and chiffon sarees, there are choices galore.
“The exhibition allows us to pick from a wide range of sarees from across the country,” said a visitor.
The sarees are priced between Rs 1,000 to Rs 7,000.
