CISF Jawan Opens Fire Inside Indian Museum, Kills Colleague & Seriously Injures Another

Kolkata: In a bizarrely scary incident, a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan was shot dead and another seriously injured by one of their colleagues who opened fire indiscriminately inside the Indian Museum premises, located at a prime location, here this evening.

The CISF personnel used his service weapon, an AK-47, to fire 15 rounds in the barrack attached to museum., shooting an assistant sub-inspector and a head constable of the para military force.

Both men were rushed to the state-run SSKM Hospital, where one of them was declared dead.

The jawan reportedly fired at a police car also.

“The incident took place at around 6.30 pm. One CISF jawan was killed while another is badly injured. We have arrested the accused,” Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal said.

Indian Museum, founded in 1814, is the oldest and largest museum not only in the Indian subcontinent but also in the Asia-Pacific region.

Entry to the museum was blocked, and combat forces, along with CISF personnel, entered the premises to bring the jawan under control.
