Rayagada: The District Education Officer (DEO) on Friday formed a three-member committee to probe into the case of a Class IX student of the district clearing the Matric examination this year.
The DEO Purna Chandra Bariha took the step after it was reported in the media that the student of Government High School, Tikiri had passed the annual examination conducted by Board of Secondary Examination (BSE).
The committee headed by Additional DEO Bhajanlal Majhi has been directed to complete the probe and submit the report soon. The committee members will visit the school and record the statement of its headmaster Lochan Khara and the student, Pintu Majhi.
According to reports, Pintu had taken the transfer certificate (TC) from the school on January 18 to take admission in another school.
Surprisingly, when the results of the annual Matric examination were published, it was found that Pintu had cleared the examination securing D-Grade with 272 marks. He claimed that he passed the Board examination by giving a bribe of Rs 5000 to the headmaster.
The DEO said a departmental proceeding will be initiated against the headmaster, if he is found guilty.
