Berhampur: At least 35 passengers had a lucky escape after the bus in which they were travelling overturned near Hikirikupa village under Mohana police limits in Odisha’s Gajapati district late on Friday.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the bus from Berhampur was en route to Indravati. The bus overturned and fell off the road as the driver lost control over the wheels while negotiating a turn. Police reached the spot and made alternative arrangements to help the passengers reach their destinations.
The driver, who was detained by police for questioning, said that the steering wheel locked up while the bus was in motion leading to the accident.
