Sundargarh: It was a narrow escape for the students of a 5T government school in Odisha’s Sundargarh district as a portion of concrete fell off the ceiling of a classroom when they were away for the sports break on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Khuntagaon 5T government school in Lahunipada block of the district.
According to sources, the school was transformed under the 5T initiative of the state government just eight months ago. However, it was alleged that the contractor and officials indulged in corruption and neglected quality during the renovation work.
No injury to anyone was reported as the students were away from the classroom during sports break when the incident took place.
Stating that the renovation work was done only eight months ago, school officials said that the authorities concerned would be informed about the incident for appropriate action. A thorough investigation should be conducted into the incident, parents of some students said.
