Nayagarh: Clothes worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes as a major fire that broke out in a readymade garment store on Khadpada Road in Odisha’s Nayagarh town in the early hours of Thursday.
According to sources, locals saw smoke billowing out of the shop located on the first floor of a market complex and informed the fire department, which then engaged four four fire-fighting units and could bring the blaze under control after almost four hours.
“I went home after shutting the shop at 10 pm last night. I received a call around 3 am about the fire and rushed to the spot. I opened the shutter and found fire inside,” shop owner Vikash Sharma, while attributing the blaze to a possible short circuit.
A fire officer said that the matter is under investigation.
