Bhubaneswar: As a Diwali gift, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday announced 50 per cent hike in remuneration of anganwadi workers. They will now receive Rs 6, 000 per month.
Similarly, remuneration of mini anganwadi workers and helpers has also been raised to Rs 4,125 and Rs 3,000 per month respectively.
The move came hours after a group of agitating anganwadi workers met the Chief Minister at the state secretariat here and apprised him of their longstanding demands, including pay hike.
The anganwadi workers and helpers had been on an indefinite strike at Lower PMG here for past 36 days seeking redressal of their grievances.
