Bhubaneswar: To deal with crimes related to elderly people, chief minister Naveen Patnaik handed over 35 motorcycles and 72 smartphones to Nodal and Assistant Nodal officers of each Senior Citizens Security Cell at a function organised at the Police Commissionerate Headquarters here on Wednesday.
He also flagged off four traffic interceptors.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, “These new initiatives taken by the Police Commissionerate will certainly enhance its capability to serve people in a better way.”
The four interceptors will be provided to Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Sambalpur cells of police. “It has also been decided to introduce a special mobile application, within the next 15 days, through which the elderly will be able lodge their grievances,” a police officer said.
Among others, DGP KB Singh, Police Commissioner YB Khurania and other officials were present.
