Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of 14 industries and inaugurated four industrial units via video conferencing at the State Secretariat here on Tuesday.

The 18 industrial units will collectively invest Rs 2196.30 crore and create employment opportunities for 3,465 people.

The Chief Minister said Odisha’s vision is to become the manufacturing hub of the East. Through Vision 2025 for industrial development, the state government has devised an action plan to bring more manufacturing investments and provide employment opportunities across the state.

“My government is working towards ensuring that investment intents get converted into actual investments,” Naveen said, adding, “We witnessed groundbreaking of 14 new projects and inauguration of another four industrial projects today.”

Expressing happiness over GO-SWIFT, the online single-window portal which has received 600 industrial project applications in just over 14 months, the Chief Minister said this was an incredible achievement for the state. “I congratulate all departments concerned who have made this possible.”

Chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said the state government recently launched a dedicated “Industry Care” mechanism to facilitate and provide aftercare services to industrial units coming up in the state.

Stating that Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are given top priority, Padhi said the State Project Monitoring Group (SPMG) portal, e-Suvidha, which was till recently receiving and resolving grievances of industrial units with an investment of more than Rs 50 crore, has now been opened for all industrial units including MSMEs.

He requested all departments concerned to ensure expeditious resolution of issues and grievances of all large as well as MSMEs in the state through this framework.

Notably, food processing, including seafood, received a significant boost with six projects witnessing inauguration/groundbreaking, thereby grounding investments of Rs 672.39 crore.

In another important development, two aluminium downstream units had their groundbreaking done at the Angul Aluminium Park (a joint venture between the state-owned IDCO and aluminium major Nalco Angul), which is the only downstream aluminium park in South Asia.
