Barang: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday laid the foundation stone of the Odisha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Ratagarh-Nuasahi under Barang tehsil in Cuttack district.
Among others, chairman of the Tata Trust, Ratan Tata, was present on the occasion.
The hospital would be constructed by the Tata Trust on the lines of the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai for which the state government has provided 25 acres of land free of cost.
The management of the hospital will remain with the Tata Trust.
The 500-bed hospital, with all facilities like onco medicine, surgical oncology, radiation therapy and chemo therapy, will become a major centre for cancer treatment in eastern India.
