Puri: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday laid the foundation stone of the proposed mega drinking water supply project, which is part of the state government’s ‘Basudha’ (Buxy Jagabandhu Assured Water Supply to Habitations) scheme, at Gomundia under Brahmagiri assembly constituency in Puri district.
According to official sources, the Rs 183-crore project of the Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department on the banks of Chilika lake would benefit 147 villages of Puri and Ganjam district.
Altogether, 92 villages under Krusna Prasad block in Puri and 55 villages under Chhatrapur block in Ganjam district would be supplied drinking water through this project, the sources added.
Among others, Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty, MP Pinaki Mishra, MLA Sanjay Das Burma and Puri Collector Jyoti Prakash Dash were present.
