Cuttack: In a bid to reduce panic among denizens, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) clarified via tweets that some of new cases reported in the last few days are all from quarantine centres.
Panic spread after a vernacular local daily reported cases from Shelter Chhak, Bengali Sahi, Jobra and Gangamandira areas. The CMC replied to a tweet from a denizen questioning the same, and explained that the particular case pertaining to Shelter Chhak was a person working in Khurda district and hence the number was included in Khurda district’s tally. The CMC also assured that contact tracing has been completed.
The I&PR department on Thursday tweeted that all nine new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours are Telangana returnees housed in quarantine centres. Among those who had tested positive for the virus in the district the previous day, two were Maharashtra, one Tamil Nadu and six Surat returnees
On Wednesday, the CMC had urged not to spread misinformation and panic.
