Cuttack: To effectively monitor and supervise sanitation work in the city, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is all set to adopt information technology (IT) in a big way.
According to sources, the civic body has made the required arrangements for using IT in order to ensure proper work in 59 wards spread across the city.
While the required software for the purpose is ready, the IT-based monitoring and supervising system is likely to be inaugurated on Local Self-Governance Day on August 31. Besides more than 100 sanitary workers of the CMC, three outsourcing manpower agencies have been engaged to carry out cleaning and sanitation works in the millennium city.
It is alleged that some of the sanitary workers are reportedly signing on the attendance sheet without attending to work. Therefore, their attendance will be recorded with face recognition with geo-fencing through the IT solution application. This will enable the civic body officials to ascertain the place and time of the workers’ attendance on the dashboard.
The civic body will also be able to track vehicles carrying garbage, GPS routes, allotted wards, distance travelled and idle time. With the help of a mobile app, field supervisors will be able to track and resolve different issues.
Activities of Swachh Sathis will also be monitored by using a QR code-based door-to-door garbage collection system. The Swachh Sathis will have to scan the QR code on the Digital Door Number (DDN) so that the civic body can keep track of them.
This apart, a citizens app has also been prepared to enable people residing in the city to send complaints.
