Bhubaneswar: Plus II students of Odisha government-run Adarsha model schools will be provided coaching facility to crack national-level competitive examinations like JEE and NEET.

The coaching will be offered both in online and in offline mode, helping students get access to the best of online lectures and exposure to mock tests, said advisor to the Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) Bijaya Kumar Sahoo.

First Plus II Batch To Pass Out In 2022

“We are already finalising plans for this initiative as the first Plus II batch will pass out of these schools in 2022,” he said.

The Adarsha Vidyalayas are English medium schools, affiliated to the CBSE medium. The Sangathan plans to start running a school in each of the 314 blocks in the state by the end of this financial year.

Online Lectures In Central Server

Since these schools operate at the block level in far-flung areas, students have little access to coaching facilities to prepare for competitive exams. This will become a challenge for Adarsha students as well. Adarsha schools, therefore, will have to fulfil their aspirations for a bright future ahead, Sahoo said.

“We will ensure that online lectures are made available to them for quality coaching. In areas with connectivity issues, we will put the lectures in school central server for the benefit of students. Besides, they will be introduced to mock tests in classes,” he added.

High Aspirations Of Adarsha Students

Sahoo, who visited various schools in Ganjam district recently, said the aspirational level is high among students. This is quite encouraging for us. They could become the role models for the school as well as for the state if nurtured.

“I met a girl at Badapur school in Patrapur block who had a deep interest in astronomy. She was aware of every little development surrounding the Chandrayaan-2 mission and could differentiate the lander from the rover. She also knew what went wrong with the mission. It is such talents that we need to nurture in these schools,” the edupreneur said.

School Results Encouraging

He said that results achieved so far has been quite encouraging for them even as the focus remains on consolidation, standardisation of the academic calendar and standard operating procedures across all the schools.

The overall pass percentage in Ganjam district itself has been over 93 per cent in the Class X board exams. Over 80 per cent scored more than 60 per cent in Science and Mathematics, he said.
