Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch on Wednesday found international links in the cocaine seizure case in the capital city.
Crime Branch ADG Sanjeeb Panda informed mediapersons that the two arrested smugglers Ravi Singh and Sunny Kumar cocaine was being smuggled to Bhubaneswar from six countries i.e. China, France, America, Switzerland, Thailand, and South Africa.
They were aiming to spread their network in the state, Bhubaneswar in particular. Their target were the foreigners and players who would be visiting the city for the 2023 Hockey World Cup to be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.
During a probe into the cocaine seizure case, CB found these details from the mobile phones of Ravi and Sunny. The two were arrested from Xavier’s Square in Bhubaneswar and 202 grams of cocaine was seized from their possession.
The two smugglers were in contact with drug peddlers from the six countries, the ADG added.
Notably, 202 grams of cocaine were seized from two Rajasthan-based smugglers. Ravi from Churu district and Sunny from Jhunjhunu district were arrested while they were trying to peddle the drug near the Xavier Square here on April 13.
Prime accused Ravi used to sell cocaine in different areas of Delhi, procuring from a bigger cocaine trafficker in Delhi. Ravi contacted co-accused Sunny, who is a frequent traveller to Bhubaneswar, to spread the cocaine business here. Sunny had taken a house on rent at Salia Sahi from where the two were caught by a Special Task Force after being tipped off about their activities.
