Bhubaneswar: The cold wave condition is likely to intensify further in North Odisha in the next 72 hours.
In a mid-day release on Thursday, the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, has predicted light drizzle and thundershower at one or two places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, and Nuapada districts in the next 24 hours.
It further said that though there has been a marginal fall in the night temperature at all places in the state, the cold wave condition will persist till next week till January 3 and intensify further in North Odisha districts in the next 72 hours from December 29 when the night temperature will fall by around 3-4 degree Celsius. Apart from this, there will be a drop in the night temperature by around 1-2 degrees in the remaining parts of the state.
According to the release, Phulbani remained the coldest place at 8.2 degree Celsius on Thursday while temperature slumped to below 10 degree Celsius in Sundargarh (9.5) and Angul (9.6).
Besides, temperature remained between 10 and 12 degree Celsius in Balasore (10), Cuttack (12.2), Baripada (10.5), Jharsuguda (12.6), Keonjhar (10.6), Sambalpur (12.4), Talcher (11.5), Balangir (12.5), Koraput (11), Titlagarh (10), Sonepur (11.8) and Daringbadi (10).
