Cuttack: Suspected movement of Maoists in Satkosia forest, which stretches from Narasinghpur to Angul, created panic in the area on Wednesday.
Following reports, security forces intensified combing operation in the forested area. “It is not confirmed whether they are Left-wing Extremists. We have started combing operations in the area. Jawans will be deployed in the forest soon,” Cuttack SP (Rural) Madhab Chandra Sahoo told a news channel.
A platoon of CRPF initiated combing operation in Baliput under Narasinghpur police limits and nearby forest on the basis of the information, informed Athagarh SDPO Pratap Chandra Pal.
Similar activities were reported from the forest some years ago and combing operations launched twice earlier. But there was no confirmation, sources said.
