Commonwealth Games: Birmingham: India were far too superior for their Pakistani counterparts in the Commonwealth Games 2022 women’s cricket clash here on Sunday.

Chasing a modest target of 100 runs, the Indians cruised to victory in 11.4 overs to put their heartbreaking defeat against Australia behind them.

Pakistan’s decision to bat first backfired in the rain-hit match which was reduced to 18 overs per side.

Spinners Sneh Rana, Radha Yadav and Shafali Verma shared 5 wickets, while medium-pacers Renuka Singh and Meghna Singh bagged one apiece as India dismissed Pakistan for 99.

Hard-hitting opener Smriti Mandhana then took it upon herself to guide the team home with an unbeaten 63 off 43 balls, with 8 fours and 3 sixes.

India have to beat Barbados in their final league stage match to advance to the semifinals from Group A.
